Gulkayr, 12 years and good pupil,
already speaks three languages
and
dreams to learn French.

Today august 31st, Gulkayr and her family are having a party :
grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins are brought together under the
"yourte", this round tent, of wood and felt, under which the kirghize nomads live since ages.

Here, in the village, the tradition wants that, before the departure of a member of the family,
one sacrifices a sheep for the meal... And this evening, Gulkayr and her brother Tynchtyk will leave with their mother, to Bishkek, the capital.
|
|
|
The summer is ending. It is the end of holidays and great rides in the mountains. A few tears when comes the time of leaving, but the smile returns quickly : Gulkayr likes
school. Its favorite subjects ? The Kirhize, Russian, English.
and she dreams to study French !

This passion for languages is not a matter of chance: with
the independance of the country, in 1991, the borders got opened and
the Kirghizes could finally come into contact with foreigners. What a
happiness to welcome a visitor at home, of speaking and laughing with
him !

Gulkayr is lucky, because her parents had genius idea : because they were nomads and they perfectly know the local nature, they chose to become mountain guides. And they have many visitors !
|

|
Thanks to her English, Gulkayr goes with them as soon as she is on holiday. But she also has the firm intention to take one day the plane to pay visit to her French friends... |
