Troyes and its surrounding
Troyes owns hundreds of timber framing houses dating from the XVIth and XVIIth centuries, concentrated in the "Bouchon".
The best way to appreciate this area is by walk, wandering , to get through of the medieval atmosphere.
In the surrounding, many walks are beautiful, especially the one called the "route du champagne" which leads you through the vineyards of Champagne.

- Within the city : The old Troyes has many pedestrian streets. A city map free at the visitor information center indicates itineraies for walks and main sites (churches, private hotels, museum, beautiful houses with timber frames...).

VISIT AND EXCURSIONS
- La Maison de l’outil et de la pensée ouvrière :
in a palace of the Renaissance : the hotel Mauroy, this museum offers 7 000 tools for fashioning dating from the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries. It represents all different works : smith, carpenter, slate worker, stone cutter, book binder, saddler, chair-bottomer…

- Musée de Vauluisant : Close to the precedent, it covers two different departments : the historic museum of Troyes and Champagne, and the one of la "Bonneterie". In order to know everything about the past of this region.
- Cathedral Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul : One of the biggest of France, famous for its stained glass windows (182 pannels).
- Church Sainte-Madeleine : the oldest church of Troyes, famous for its stone "jubé" delicatly carved dating from the XVIth century.
- Magasins d’usine : Troyes is one of the biggest center of factory shops in France where everything can be found : clothes but also the art of dressing a table, accessories for decoration and leather with great "discounts".

- Côte des Bar : The appelation area of "champagne" covers many departements, particularly the south-east region of the Aube. To visit vinyards and winecellars, the ideal is to follow the "route touristique du champagne" which leads you through vineyards and villages of the côte des Bar.
- Lakes : East of Troyes, the lakes of Temple, the Orient forest and Amance have its own "spéciality" : nature and fishing for one, sailing for the second, motonautism for the third one. All belong to the natural regional park of orient, a universe of water and forest on about 70 000 hectares.

- Le Champ des Oiseaux :
hotel*** with 12 rooms very comfortable in a group of corbelling houses of the XVth and XVIth centuries. One of the prettiest renovation of Troyes.

- Le Valentino : peaceful (accessible by a pedestrian road), this restaurant is one of the best of the city. In summer, it is possible to have dinner outside in a paved yard. Specialized in fishes.

- L’Illustré : bar in the heart of the old Troyes, with many floors. Old timber framing house restaured by Jean-Louis Valentin, the architect-carpenter to whom are due any of the renovation of Troyes.
